be prepared! tiger! vehicle: tiger_stealth location: Danube water meadows, Vienna, Austria, 2006 audio sources: Tamil Tiger video, voice "be prepared! tiger!" is a project by Knowbotic Research in collaboration with Peter Sandbichler. It is based on the construction of a stealth boat that is invisible for radar. The vehicle tiger_stealth refers back to a stealth boat that was depicted in a propaganda video of the Tamil Tigers, the Tamil liberation army. The video footage was found on the internet and shows an attack boat on patrol in a river delta. The Tamil boat seems to be a formal adaption of the US stealth bomber F117, a myth of invisibility and invincibility. KR and Sandbichler have re-engineered and rebuilt the boat. It appears to be unmanned, although navigated by a person hidden inside the boat. Equipped with a silent electrical engine it stays invisible for a radar station positioned on the river bank. "be prepared! tiger!" was first presented in the harbour of Duisburg in April 2006 for the exhibition "Designing the Truth" and the Public Art project "PubliCity". . |
