MARK II COMMUNICATIONS SUITE

The mark II communications suite was designed mainly to support, work in the HF radio spectrum, supporting the INSULAR TECHNOLOGIES amateur trial communications, although there is the provision to work in VHF and UHF bands with amateur satellites and other orbiting stations and in VHF land line comms. Besides that, there is a 2.4 GHz TX/RX TCP/IP 7km LAN bridge, which operates under the spread spectrum ACA CLASS licence, dated May 21 1996 and is installed for internet access in the lab. The communications suite is operational from March 3 with the VK6YIO callsign. At the present time, the station can operate as a limited amateur station, licence number 1615577, issued by the Australian Communications Authority.
