MARK II ENERGY SYSTEMS

The mark II energy systems are built around a 32 panel PV generator with Photowatt 90Wp modules, with a total power of 2880 Wp. Additional to that, a 80W wind power generator will be added at a later date in early March, together with a HONDA ECX-4000 propane modification 4kW generator. The energy system is managed by a TRACE SW4S48E inverter/charger and includes a 48V battery bank. The mains run from the PV generator to the lab where they are transfered to 6 power buses, each with a single 16A protection. The main voltage is 236 VAC, but the lab has provisions to suit 220-240 VAC equipment, as well as 110-120 VAC equipment, together with 24V DC and 0-20V DC equipment on the specialised DC buses.
Besides the electrical power, the lab is equipped with a 9kg propane gas tank for the galley and the ECX-4000.
